KSC to Guide Greenspring Montessori's Capital Project

KSC is delighted to announce that it has been hired as Project Coordinator for Greenspring Montessori School's upcoming capital project. Having served GMS in various advisory capacities over the past two years, KSC will guide the project's design, planning, permitting, construction, financing, and capital campaign. In addition, KSC will help assure the linkage between the school's Montessori mission and vision and the project's fiscal and physical outcomes.

The project will encompass the re/construction of the school's main classroom and administrative building, approximately 14,000sf, as well as the to-be-determined master planned improvements to additional campus buildings. The design of Phase I will commence July 1, 2014, and the Main Building is scheduled to be ready for students by summer 2016.

Five Reasons to Hire a Project Coordinator

When embarking on a major transition and culture changing event like a capital project and campaign, Montessori schools need...

1. A coordinator to minimize distraction from school business at all cost

2. An experienced guide who fully appreciates a capital project's complexity and impact

3. An advocate and trusted advisor whose sole concern is the school's best interests

4. A translator to facilitate communication

5. A representative who is singularly accountable amidst all the project participants

A capital project is best approached with the entirety of a school's Montessori structures and mission in mind. Given its own mission to support Montessori schools during periods of growth and transition, KSC works to bridge the structural, financial, communal, and pedagogical elements of the process. The result: a new school home that lives up to the hopes and dreams of so many.

An Ode to 2013

2013 was an excellent and prosperous year for KSC. Looking back on our good fortune, we are filled with gratitude for the opportunities that came our way to work, create, problem solve, celebrate, and, in general, to be of use to Montessori schools around the country. As a result, KSC is a stronger, wiser, more experienced and responsive organization heading into the New Year. Having access to the inner workings of growing and transitioning schools is a privilege. To be trusted to help guide schools toward their future and vision is fulfilling. To bear witness to the goodhearted work of one Montessori school after another is reaffirming.

In 2013 KSC christened a new $2.6 million Montessori schoolhouse, supported the evolution of blossoming Montessori adolescent programs, counseled Montessori Heads and Boards as they considered the most stable and sustainable paths to growth, and guided Montessori communities in their development as givers, teachers, leaders, and models of all that is possible in the realm of education. For these opportunities, KSC thanks all of the Montessori teachers, administrators, trustees, parents, and, most of all, students for allowing us to partner with you and for all you have taught us in 2013. We promise to put the knowledge to good use in the year ahead for there is much more work to be done. Onward!

KSC Partners with Education Access Strategies

To provide Montessori schools with the highest quality and fullest range of leadership search guidance possible, KSC has entered into an alliance with Education Access Strategies, LLC (EAS), a national leadership search firm with offices in Bethesda, MD and St Louis, MO.

EAS assists independent schools and other non-profits in executive searches as well as provides board development, head mentoring, and related consulting services. More than fifty organizations nationwide have secured EAS's help for their leadership searches--including more than forty-five head of school, principal, or president searches--with a focus in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions. Dr. Richard (Dick) Jung founded EAS primarily to serve small and medium sized independent schools with head of school searches and related leadership transition issues.

This is an ideal and timely partnering for KSC as we stand to benefit greatly from EAS and Dick Jung's well-respected perspective and expertise.
